Friday Night Lights:
in Wildwood

We finally made it back to Wildwood for the Friday night fireworks display.
We arrived around 5pm and didn't leave till just before midnight. Stephany and I took the boys on every ride that they could go on and some that they were probably too small to go on, but somehow, by some miracle, Stephen made him self appear taller -or the attendant just wasn't paying attention. We even managed to make it to two of the three piers. The first pier we did the last time. The last pier didn't have much in the way of rides for both adults and children. The kids rides were cute -miniture versions of adult rides. There was only one that I saw that all of us could go on together, there were others but they cost extra- some outrageously so. I would have to say that the best ride of the night was in the back of a monster truck. $7.00 /person extra, but well worth it. To say the least the boys had a blast and managed to stay well behaved all the way up to the end.
The fireworks were supposed to start around ten, but like everything else around here, when it comes to getting things done, it's a slow process. But it gave us time to run onto the beach and sit on some bleachers. It was a decent show, especially with the ferris wheel in the foreground displaying its own light show. Afterwards we went back to the first pier and road a couple more rides with our final ride being the ferris wheel.

Ocean City
Sunday August 13th
Such a beautiful day, we packed up Grandpa's truck and headed for the beach. Sand, Sun, and Surf!

Ernest had a blast as he took his first
attempts at boggie boarding.

Mays Landing 4-H Fair

Friday was our day to go to the fair. The boys and I hung out around the house, they played with playdough before having some quiet time with a movie after lunch. At 1:30 we drove to the fair grounds to meet Stephany and her friend Mary and her two boys Timmy and Ricky. We purchased unlimited passes to the carnival rides, going on the roller coaster first. We moms squeezed ourselves into the tiny seating
area as best we could. After a wild if knee bruising ride we went on the Ferris wheel. It took some convincing but we were able to get Stephen and Ernest to ride together. With another little girl who had been waiting for someone to go with her. I convinced Stephany to go on the spaceship looking ride. The boys were wary, but ready. Ernest though, once inside changed his mind, so we stepped off to watch.

When Stephen and Stephany got off, Stephen was so excited that he wanted to go again, so this time Ernest and I joined them, along with Mary and Timmy. It was great. Ernest got scared when my back rest moved (which it was supposed to do) upwards with a loud thud, so I pulled Ernest up with me so that his back rest went thud -he seemed better.

A glutton for punishment we went from that ride to another spinning ride. Heart shaped seats that the riders could personally spin along with the ride spinning the hearts around. While sitting in our seat waiting for everyone else to get settled. I videoed Ernest spinning us. Which was the start of a big mistake on my part. The ride started moving with us still spinning and that was the last straw for my inner-ear. My stomach went belly up and I almost lost my lunch. It took three turns before I could get the attention of attendants and get them to stop the ride.
Meanwhile Ernest is yelling to anyone who would hear him. "Stop the ride my mommy is going to throw up!" Needless to say I was a little embarrassed on top of being sick.
For the record it took me 6 hours to recover and I only went on one other ride the rest of that night. The boys on the other hand had three hours of absolute fun, going from one ride to the next. At 5 the rides were closed so the workers could have dinner. So we had dinner as well. Ernest had pizza and I methodically ate a pretzle. Since there wasn't really anything to do after that, we went home.

August

So for the month of August, Ernest will be out of school. I guess it could be considered his summer break. The local mommies club has convinced the local movie theater to play movies every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 am, there being 2 movies a week, all summer long. So Ernest gets to spend quality time with me -mom- and he gets to see older movies that he was too young to see or not around for the first time they came out. He is enjoying this time with me immensely, but still wishes that I didn't have to go to work in the evening.
